AHHH!!! This is so scary to share this publicly! I’m usually a private person and prefer to share results from my clients, but because I’m passionate about what I do and what I think these products can do for others, I wanted to be very transparent with you. Below are my results from completing the Ultimate Reset:
In case you’ve never heard of it before, the Ultimate Reset is a 21 day cleanse. This program can help improve your energy, lose weight and ultimately (haha, pun intended!) get you back on track to eating healthier. Think of it as the reset button on your phone that puts you back to your “factory settings.” In the first week, the program weans you off of meat, eggs and dairy. The second week it weans you off of grains and the third week is almost strictly fruits and veggies.
This is my 5th Spring doing the Ultimate Reset. It helps me get back on track after the holidays and Spring Break and reminds myself that I need to treat food as fuel and not for emotions. My slips were becoming slides, so I knew I needed this Reset to really dial in my nutrition. I’m going to be honest though, this isn’t easy to do and takes a lot of dedication! The hardest part for me is giving up my strong coffee game (EEKKKK!!!)!
In 21 days, I lost 10 lbs. and 5 inches!! More importantly than that, I feel more in control of what I’m putting into my body. In the years past, I have definitely indulged on day 22. It was like my body said give me all the coffee and peanut butter the day after the reset was over. This year has been completely different! I have learned so much about myself, what my body truly needs and how I need to use food to fuel my body rather than fueling my emotions.
Today I wanted to share 3 things I’ve learned along the way:
#1. Food is fuel NOT comfort!
I knew this but I wasn’t acting on it! Before the Reset, I would mindlessly take a bite of this or a bite of that off of my boys’ plates. That’s not fuel and not necessary! I just wasn’t thinking about certain things before eating them, which leads to extra weight and mindless eating. When you do the Ultimate Reset, you don’t have this problem. Your food and day is planned out, so you don’t have the BLTs (Bites, Licks and Tastes) constantly throughout your day.
I was also beating myself up mentally. My self-confidence and body image was at an all-time low, because I knew I was sabotaging myself and eating things that weren’t necessary. I’ve worked way too hard and too long just to throw it all to the wind! The Reset really helped bring this to light and help get me back into a better mental state as well.
#2. No sugar = no cravings!
I had zero cravings throughout the 21 days. I didn’t even crave or eat a Quest Bar! What the what?!? Some people don’t realize that sugar and especially artificial sugars will make you crave more sugar. Peanut butter was one of my worst offenses. That is a food without brakes for me and often times has hidden sugar in the ingredients. This process made my sugar craving disappear.
As a side note, there have been studies where there were two groups of mice. One group of mice got Oreos and another group got cocaine. Then the researchers took both things away from the mice. Later they reintroduced both things and the mice went after the Oreos first! How crazy is that?? Take a second and think about that. Sugar is more powerful to your body than cocaine! It’s hard to get rid of sugar cravings for the first few days, but I promise it gets easier and your body will thank you for it!
#3. Be kind to yourself!
No matter where you are in your journey, please remember to be kind to yourself! I’m not a fan of the scale right now or ever really because the number on the scale isn’t where I’d like it to be (thanks annual lady exam for that one!). BUT I have to remind myself where I am today is not where I was even 5 years ago when I did my first Ultimate Reset. Five years ago, I was a personal trainer working at the gym all day. Now I am coaching online from home, so there is less activity throughout my day. My nutrition and personal workouts are the same but that’s still 5-6 hours less activity than what I used to be doing.
But please hear me loud and clear on this—there is no reason to judge yourself or beat yourself about where you are in your journey! The number that is on that scale won’t make you good enough or happy enough. You are the only person that sees that number on the scale or the size of your pants anyway. So stop determining your worth by a number!! Be happy no matter what weight you are and wherever you are along your journey. Eat healthy, move your body and BE KIND TO YOU!!
