There are some things that I know about myself. I like to workout. I like to eat. And I can allow one to out-do the other, if you know what I mean. You just can’t outtrain a bad diet. You might be thinking, “Come on, Liz! You don’t have a bad diet.” Well, the truth is that even though I enjoy eating clean; I probably like it TOO much. In other words, this girl can eat the heck out of some natural crunchy peanut butter!! 😉
So after my birthday celebration, the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day, I knew that I wasn’t feeling my healthiest and was ready to get my nutrition dialed-in. Which is exactly what the 21 Day Fix Extreme has done for me! I’m currently on Day 8 of this program and I feel great! I feel in control, and my cravings have been curbed. If you’re not familiar with this program, it comes with a unique portion control system with color-coded containers so that you know exactly what to eat and how much to eat based on your weight and your goals. The workouts are all 30 minutes each (which I LOVE) and if you follow the program, it’s guaranteed to give great results!
I like that it’s encouraging me to think of food in terms of the fuel it provides me (rather than focusing on counting calories or points). There is no elimination of entire food groups, and there is enough fiber and protein to keep me feeling full. Here is what one day of my meals looked like:
The hardest part, quite honestly, has been not having anything after dinner. So I’ve been having fun experimenting with fun herbal teas and flavored liquid stevia! And the best part is that I wake up feeling in control and victorious over the nighttime munchies that the rest of my family always seems to have.
