I’ve been praying about what my theme word should be for 2015, and I’ve chosen, “Breathe.” Last year I found myself so busy and focused on my to-do list that I often didn’t even take the time for a full, deep-cleansing breath until we sat down for dinner in the evenings. No more! This year, I want to really take the time to just breathe.
In 2015 I want to BREATHE in:
More of Christ, less of me, following His lead and His will for my life.
More time for me and Jason to grow in our marriage–after 18 years with this man, I love him more than ever.
More opportunities to connect and spend time with my boys–they’re growing way too fast
Air, as I push myself to reach some fitness goals outside of my comfort zone; focusing on what my body can do rather than a number on the scale.
And speaking of goals, do you have a Fitness Bucket List for 2015? If not, I want to encourage you to create one! When we base our self-worth on a number on the scale, we usually end up feeling inadequate. But, when we focus on being healthy, strong, and fit–the sky is the limit!! These Non-Scale Victories (NSVs) are empowering, giving us incentive and encouragement to continue on our fitness journey!
Here is my Fitness Bucket List for 2015:
Do at least 10 Pull-Ups
Do 10 Leg-Thru Push Ups
Do a hand-stand (mastered the head stand in 2014 but now going for the hands!)
Swim faster than I used to
Hold a 10-minute plank (last year’s goal was an 8- minute plank, so I’m setting the bar a little higher this year) 😉
Complete the Richmond Rox Half-Ironman Triathlon (big, scary goal right here)
Run on the beach
Be an Insanity Max:30 Grad
Go sugar-free for one month
Run a race with my 3 boys.
Will I reach all of these goals in 2015? Maybe not, but one thing I know for sure–I won’t reach any of them if I don’t set them first! Many people are afraid of setting goals because they worry that they won’t reach them. But seriously–what do you have to lose? You miss every shot that you don’t take, so go for it!
And please allow me a “soap box moment” to say that I think it’s SO important that we STOP using the scale as a sign of our success and self-worth! I promise you that if you focus on getting stronger, healthier, and fitter–your weight will take care of itself. So take out a piece of paper right now, before we get any farther into 2015, and brainstorm a list of fitness goals and non-scale victories. Remember that goals are simply dreams with deadlines. So dare to dream!!
And if you need some help coming up with your fitness goals and/or reaching them, that’s what I’m here for! I’m passionate about helping you make 2015 your healthiest year yet, so please reach out to me today!
